Experimental Decaf Typica

Experimental Decaf Typica

Details

This decaf from Finca Los Nogales in Huila, Colombia, is hand-picked, washed, and gently fermented before being decaffeinated using a sugarcane Ethyl Acetate (EA) process. The Typica beans produce a bright, balanced cup with lively acidity, moderate sweetness, and layered complexity, offering tasting notes of lemon, sour candy, and red flowers.

Let your coffee rest

The coffee should rest for minimum 21 days after roasting and be used within 4 months at the latest. The coffee reaches its maximum complexity within a certain period of time. In our experience we found that between 4-7 weeks the coffees are reaching there peak.

About the producer / farm

Finca Los Nogales

Finca Los Nogales is a family-run coffee farm in the highlands of Huila, Colombia, managed by the Hernández family. With a long tradition of specialty coffee cultivation, they focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability. Every stage—from handpicking ripe cherries to meticulous fermentation—is carefully managed to bring out the unique flavors of their Typica varietal, making each cup a true expression of the farm’s dedication and high-altitude terroir.

About the varietal

Typica

Typica is one of the oldest and most celebrated Arabica varieties, forming the genetic foundation for many modern coffee cultivars. Known for its elegant sweetness, bright acidity, and clean, balanced cup, Typica thrives in the high-altitude microclimates of Huila. On Finca Los Nogales, this variety develops refined flavors with subtle fruit and floral notes, reflecting both its heritage and the meticulous care of the Hernández family.

About the process

Washed / Experimental Decaf

This coffee was hand-picked and washed before undergoing a long, controlled fermentation to enhance sweetness and complexity. It was then decaffeinated using a sugarcane Ethyl Acetate (EA) process, where naturally derived EA gently removes caffeine while preserving the coffee’s vibrant fruit notes and clean profile.
